Many of these similarities probably stem from the cultural context these prophets share—one in Jerusalem, one exiled to Babylon (e.g., compare 18:2 and Jer. 31:27–30, which quote and refute the same proverb). In some cases, it may be that similarities reflect the later editing of these books, when they were brought into their final form.
